This was a delight to read.

Quote:

He wasn't banned for sending an email, I don't care what he does on his own computer. You're working yourself up into a lather of righteous indignation over somebody who doesn't give a shit about any of you, who insulted you all with some bogus spinny thing so he could have a private chuckle at your gullibility, who came on to the website of a company and encouraged other posters to send insulting emails about that company to a small university who'd had the temerity to host a talk.

I can only repeat that you should all get a sense of perspective. He's gone.

More good news

Quote:

I still don't see why Al was banned, and now we have joshs, nova and Pcstru banned as well. What were the reasons for their banning? And who banned them? Did Crank do the latest round of bannings also?

I hope they will be allowed back in after Orbo is shown to be the real thing, so that they can apologize to Steorn.

But until then, thank heavens that crew is gone. There are quite a few more that should be kicked out as well, including the people who write those execrable limericks.

Why are you pleased that they are gone? Just because they dissented from the Steorn party line? There are many people on the forum that I disagree with but I don't think that's a reason to ban them.

They are a bunch of insolent, irritating adolescents (in terms of emotional maturity). Why should a company put up with their crap on its own forum?

And I hope to hell they are not let back in until Orbo is spinning.

Why thankyou. Not quite sure what you have in mind as me being insolent but each to his own I guess.

Does that include me?, I would really like to know why I have been banned, did I cross the invisible line?

Looks like a whole lot of banning going down. Funny - I was just reading Graham Green's "The Commedians"; maybe Sean is styling himself "Papa-Doc" Mcarthy and Crank and Mags have donned dark glasses in the style of the Tonton Macoutes.

Here ... there ... everywhere.

I've set up the valilla software (same forum software that we all know and love) at this address :

That's a lot of banning in one go, either crank turned psychotic or Sean decided to play boss.

I think it's Sean having a clearout / aggravating. He's made an appearance in the "Last Poster Wins" thread.

Incidentally I responded to tinselkoala's 3 Godwinning posts on Youtube. Some of it critical given the self importance of the tone, but fundmentally reiterating the reason for his banning and pointing out that his many criticisms and comments had been left intact.

These were removed. Relatively playful (if a bit predictable) censorship, but certainly hypocrisy. If only I'd videod them like he did with his Steorn response. Another missed opportunity for the perfect riposte.

I can't see the forum lasting for long. The people there all agree with one another, so there is nobody to attack to his face. And insulting A or B when they are not present isn't satisfying enough for it to catch on.

Insulting Steorn isn't fun unless it is done on Steorn's forum.

What's left I guess is telling jokes, making 'limericks', and playing 'last poster wins' type games.

It will get a shot in the arm when the demo occurs, but Steorn's forum will be the place to be from that point on.

It would be quite remarkable to find even two people who agreed with each other on everything. And people on forums find things to argue about - it's the nature of forums. But we will see - what happens will happen.

Oh, I dunno. It seemed to work for 0.0007 in the SPDC.

Banning is typical behavior for believers who have run out of persuasion. I saw the same thing 5 years ago on a forum to discuss those scammers who "talk to the dead" and make millions of dollars selling books, seminars, and "readings" to gullible but grieving people.

I think this all comes down to ALs email to LIT, Sean realized he made a bad move and then freaked out with the bans.

Al got banned for encouraging others to email the LIT. Others got banned for acting like arseholes and puffing up their briskets in the aftermath. Not sure why you were RB.

There isn't any value in the forum for them, but certainly no threat (ex) forum members vastly inflate their importance in the scheme of things. They just got tiresome not dangerous.

Reams of threads with insults and criticism were left untouched for months and months. If think most of them are still there.

Doesn't mean to say Steorn aren't full of it and that they won't crash and burn. But it won't be anything to do with the public forum soipsists club.
