If the first law of Thermodynamics can be broken in this way, then the second law (which is that total entropy always increases) is no longer true either. Why? Because you can use the free energy to put right the increasing disorder that has hitherto been inevitable.
This is/was the 'law' which 'used to' say (amongst other things) that an explosion in a brickworks is more likely to result in a disorganised pile of bricks than a cathedral.
Perhaps Messrs. Steorn should consider patenting new building techniques too! |

Is this the right place to talk about the 2ndLOT?
If so I had better get organized. _________________ Just because something is accepted, it does not necessarily mean that it is right. Think for yourself. |

Phil,
Welcome aboard.
It looks like you found a relevant topic and thread. You are welcome to start your own "Hardcastle Theory" thread if you prefer, or even request a whole new topic which you can moderate (request from drichardson).
This looks like a pretty good place to get your feet wet.
I moderate the WhipMag topic and would welcome any insights you might have on that subject. I probably won't be very active here because I don't have much of a higher level education and I'm not comfortable with the language, theories, or formalities. I will pop in occasionally and see if I can follow any discussions.
Enjoy!
