Anybody got any ideas as to what forum ranks we should use? At the moment anyone who posts 1 or more posts is a Newbie but we could use some examples for when people hit 10, 100, 1000 or whatever numbers you think are appropriate.

Actually clovis makes a good point there; I didn't think of stars. I'll have a look when I get home.

Whoops,
I just posted about this under the anouncement section...
sorry, my bad

I was going to suggest that reputation & ratings be done away with due to abuse ( which happens on most forums)

however, if the star ratings are based entirely on number of posts; I don't have a problem with that
But I will say it may increase spammers & frivolous postings...
( the spammers can be banned), but some people will keep posting dumb stuff just to get more stars...

Thanks for the feedback Magnatrix! The star thing is based purely on post count and is no indication of merit or favouritism. For a young forum as this it may even encourage posting and we sure need a bit of activity. But if it becomes a problem we can always switch it off. Smile

A comment and a question/suggestion.

Interesting forum some nice info posted by contributors, thx.

Is there a way to view the latest posts in all forums time ascending order?
If not available already now, and easy to do, it maybe of great help in quickly seeing what's new across the whole forum
Thx

At the top or bottom of the Forum Index (depending on your template) there is a link labeled 'view posts sense last visit' -- This will show all new posts made sense your last 'visit'.

Yes I saw that, I was actually looking for a list of all the recent posts in the main index page so I can directly go to the post without having to go through all the topics in everyforum until I get to the latest one. Some forums have a great deal of topics etc. But thanks. I'll book mark the ones I replied last. Thanks for replying.

Well not quite, as it displays a unique list of the last only per topic posts
so, if there are 4 newer posts in one topic before the next one on another topic (5 total for example), The link displays only 2 (one latest post per topic). I think that's what is doing at least. Maybe I'm wrong?

Plus to get to this specific url, one needs to be logged in, right? It would be more efficient imo to to get to the main index page (bookmarked) get a full list of the newest posts, and if something of great interest shows up then go through the loggin additional search etc.

No big deal, I was looking for the quickest way to get to the newer posts/poster. Maybe it's getting too complicated, so it's ok.
Thanks
