The board has now been equipped with the 'quick reply' mod, as you can see at the bottom of this page.

We've also added AsciiMathML support:

Surround equations like:
x^2+b/ax+(b/(2a))^2-(b/(2a))^2+c/a=0
with 'pipe' (vertical bar) or 'back tick' (acute accent, found on the 'tilde' (~) key on US keyboards)

i.e.: x^2+b/ax+(b/(2a))^2-(b/(2a))^2+c/a=0

With 'pipe' characters:
|x^2+b/ax+(b/(2a))^2-(b/(2a))^2+c/a=0|

With 'backtick' characters:
`x^2+b/ax+(b/(2a))^2-(b/(2a))^2+c/a=0`

Edit to add:
AsciiMathML also supports TeX style equations as well.

The script also allows you to put equations 'in line' with regular text:

The quadratic formula, |x=frac{-b +- sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}|, should be familiar to most of our users. To see the 'code' used in an equation like |frac{a}{b}=frac{b}{c}| hover your mouse pointer over it.

Firefox users can download additional fonts used by MathML: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/fonts/
(Note: This will fix the 'weird' radical symbol issue.)

More information on AsciiMathML can be found at: http://www1.chapman.edu/~jipsen/asciimath.html

Completely cool!
Thanks, drichardson! I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.4 on Win98SE and it works perfectly!

The http://www1.chapman.edu/~jipsen/asciimath.html link explains how to use integrals, summation notation, and matrices.

Now how do we do vector calculus?

Very Happy
