You did it just the wrong way, really.
It should be "I'm skeptical about the spelling of the word sceptic".

Both spellings are correct.
Sceptic is most commonly used in Britain ( & some parts of Europe), whereas Skeptic is most commonly used in North America.

please note the origins of the "two" words and how in some languages it is a " C " and others a "K"

The deciding factor is the name of the guy who gave rise to the work, one 'Scepticus'. Not, you will note, 'Skepicus'.
